Religious Education

- Catechism provides catechesis and faith formation to the youth of our parish, first to eleventh grade. It also prepares young people and their parents for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.

  Religious Education for the 2026 - 2027 session is currently underway for 1st through 8th grades. Deadline to register is May 31st, 2026. Registrations may be mailed with payment before May 31st, 2026 to: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Attn: Religious Education, PO Box 299, Milton, LA 70558

  Each Child: $40.00 Each additional Sibling: $35.00
  Home School Registration Fee: $40.00 **(Only grades 3, 4, & 5 can Home School)

  2026 Sacramental Dates:
  First Communion - March 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
  
  Confirmation - April 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Mass

  Prerequisites
  Prerequisite means that religious instruction at a Catholic parish, Catholic school, or approved home school program must be completed first before applying to receive your Confirmation. We call these sacramental preparation years. For example, no child can "skip" the seventh grade year and expect to be confirmed as an eighth grader. Please ask to speak with our religious education/formation staff soon to inquire about a makeup plan. All families must be registered parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
  
  Children who attend non-Catholic private schools or Charter or Magnet schools such as Ascension, ARCA, STEM, Westminster, ESA, Christian Home School, etc. must be enrolled in Catholic religious education. Remember, children must attend religious education in consecutive years or have proof of religious education from other parishes in order to be promoted to the next year's sacramental preparation class. Please ask to speak with our religious education/formation staff soon.
